A comprehensive and systemic approach to sustainability
GreenBeat Nexus will mobilise a diverse set of tools to support the sector’s transformation. This includes:
- An in‑depth mapping of existing sustainability practices, challenges, and needs across the European music landscape;
- The design and delivery of training programmes and knowledge‑transfer mechanisms to strengthen capacities among music professionals;
- The establishment of a long‑term Network of Green Specialists to drive expertise, mentorship, and cross‑sectoral collaboration;
- A cascade funding mechanism distributing €3.6 million to support at least 60 third‑party music projects developing and scaling innovative green solutions.
By embedding sustainability into areas ranging from community music and education to major events, touring, digital distribution, streaming technologies and more, the project seeks to position the music sector as a catalyst for wider societal transformation and climate resilience.
A strong consortium grounded in expertise and European cooperation
GreenBeat Nexus is led by a consortium of five organisations with complementary expertise and longstanding engagement in the cultural and creative sectors:
- INOVA+ (Portugal) – project coordinator
- European Music Council (Germany)
- The Green Room (France)
- On the Move (Belgium)
- KEA European Affairs (Belgium)
Collectively, the consortium brings together experience in cultural policy, sustainability, research, mobility, and financial support mechanisms, ensuring a strategic and high‑impact implementation of the project.
Towards a systemic shift in Europe’s music ecosystem
Through its integrated approach, GreenBeat Nexus aspires to inspire a structural shift across the music sector, ensuring that sustainability becomes a core and transversal principle for organisations of all sizes - from grassroots initiatives to medium‑sized organisations and major industry actors.
KEA is proud to contribute its expertise in research, policy analysis and cultural‑sector development to this ambitious initiative. The project represents a significant opportunity to strengthen the sector’s capacity to address environmental challenges while fostering innovation, cooperation, and long‑term resilience.
KEA is excited to be part of the GreenBeat Nexus project. KEA has always been rooted firmly in the music sector, and has over time developed an extensive environmental sustainability portfolio in the broader CCI’s. In this project, we will be combining this knowledge and experience to ensure the outcomes will align optimally with both sectoral, EU and national policies. Frank Kimenai (KEA, Senior Consultant)
