EU celebrates Sierra Leone’s creative talent through Culture Moves Salone

The European Union Delegation to Sierra Leone has celebrated the first cohort of awardees under #CultureMovesSalone, a project led by KEA, with Creative Hub Africa-CHA and the support of the EU Delegation in Freetown.

Held on 8 May 2026, the event brought together 25 artists, cultural practitioners and organisations selected through the programme’s first two funding rounds.

Culture Moves Salone is part of the wider Africa–Europe Partnerships for Culture and aims to strengthen the capacities, networks and international opportunities of cultural actors in Sierra Leone. Through mobility, exchanges and professional development, the initiative enables artists to develop new collaborations, access regional and international markets, and expand their practice.

The awardees will take part in residencies, festivals, training programmes and collaborative projects both within Sierra Leone and across the African continent, contributing to long-term sector development and cross-border cultural dialogue.

KEA European Affairs is proud to contribute to this effort through the Salone Cultural Currents project, supporting the design and implementation of actions that empower local creatives, strengthen ecosystems and promote international cultural exchange.
