Feasibility study on an online marketplace for audiovisual rights

SUMMARY

Date: December 2009 – April 2010

Following an invitation to tender KEA has undertaken a feasibility study on the launch of an international internet platform for audiovisual professionals with an aim to link willing buyers and sellers of audiovisual content, mainly VOD. The feasibility study assessed the business model of the platform, its relevance for the VOD industry as well as the interest among 75 of the main audiovisual right holders across Europe.

Telephone conversations were combined with an online survey tool in which respondents were asked for their current practices and needs, before asking them to rate their specific interests per topic and per proposed service.

The study provides recommendations on the target groups, services to offer, Critical Success Factors and on potential differentiation strategies from competitors.
